I care about Alachua County. The people you elect to serve in local government are the people who will manage hundreds of millions of dollars of your public assets. Alachua County is facing difficult financial times ahead. Our citizens already pay a very high tax rate, yet we have services that are woefully under-funded and need to be improved. During my service on the city commission, the City of Gainesville achieved and kept the lowest property tax millage in over 45 years, yet maintained or improved the level of service provided to its citizens. I support funding solutions that have the potential to relieve some of the burden on the property owners.

I grew up in Archer, and have spent the last two years working at Maddox Foundry & Machine Works, Inc., my family's business that will be 100 years old next year. I have insight into the challenges facing our small cities and our small businesses. I'm a consensus builder who has good professional relationships with the leadership at the City of Gainesville, the small cities, the University of Florida, Santa Fe Community College and the School Board of Alachua County.
